Prairie Dogs and Buffalo - 2nd half of our 6/17/08 Day!

Here are the rest of the June 17 shots (the ones I decided to post). I guess I should tell ya'll that in the 2 weeks we were gone, I took over 1,675 shots. 1,675 is the number of shots I have left after deleting the ones that didn't turn out or weren't what I wanted to keep. WOW.

As I said in my last post, this is the day we drove from Jamestown, North Dakota to Walford City, ND. The below pictures are from the Roosevelt National Park. The first thing we came across was a Prairie Dog Town and these are some shots I got there. (I loved watching these little creatures!)

This is one of my favorite shots. This little guy or big guy I should say was just sitting there slumped over and he actually almost fell asleep and fell over as we were watching him. (These were taken with my zoom lens so we weren't that close to them...)

This little guy was digging a hole while we watched.

Then, we drove further into the park and through it and we saw a lot of scenery like this:

There were also quite a few of these guys (Buffalo/Bison) at the entrance of the park and we could see some on the hills as we drove through the park. They are HUGE and actually kind of ugly creatures!)

This was the view from one of the lookouts in the park.

My last picture was one of the field waterers we saw along the way. I know there must be a technical name for these thingies, but I have no idea what it is. Can someone enlighten me? I don't know what it is about these things, but I really was intrigued by them. I just happened to find this one actually watering and stopped to take some pics of it.

Stay tuned for my next set of pictures, which are from East Glacier Park. They are spectacular or at least I think so!!
